Cruella: Self Love 2021?

So recently I went to cinema to watch Cruella. You know the big bad villain from 101 Dalmatians, right? The wicked and evil Cruella De Ville, now we are served with the so-called background story for the villain.

Like Maleficent, we were introduced with how Maleficent is actually a good-girl-gone-bad because of love (spoiler alert: the love of her life betrays her for her wings and become the king hence she gone wild and put a spell on Aurora), Cruella is kind of the same?

Estella, a genius girl who from the early age is gifted with the talent of design. She loves making statement and break the rules. But not necessarily made her a delinquent, she merely pays back when she’s being wronged for.

Personally, I don’t endorse this kind behaviour because an eye for an eye is not always the best way to solve things, but for Estella this is the best way to get revenge. From an early age there is this switch to differentiate between Estella and Cruella. There are these two opposite different personalities that lives in Estella hence the reason why her mom reminds her to leave Cruella at home and be Estella.

Yet, there is one trait that I love about Cruella. She embraces herself and never forget that she is destined to be amazing, a genius with a little bit madness. Usually when we are being reminded that we have to ‘tone it down’ a notch we close ourselves and forget who we usually are. Plus, in this pandemic era where we cannot get in physical touch with our loved ones, comments in social media become a little bit too much for us to handle hence the reason why we lost and forget our value.

With Cruella come out in this pandemic, it becomes a fresh air for us. To remind us that it is okay to get a little crazy in our lives as long as you are okay with it.

Sometimes we need to be a little extreme to be who you really are.
